Life is Change

Life is all about change. And if anything constant in life is the ritual of being a witness to the changes. One who adapts to them becomes content and happy, and one who fights them always has something to complain about.
My life, well i have to say, the moment I think I have figured it all out, life throws me a punch so hard I have no option but to laugh and pick my house of cards again. Looking back to the last 5 years, I never imagined I will evolve into the person I am now. I used to be so naive and thus unrealistically cheerful. I was like an ostrich, when life threw me a lemon, I will go and hide in the world of imaginations until the line between reality and fiction blurred. But now I have realised that anyone can do so; it takes courage to live in present and make lemonade. I had to constantly fight my demons to learn this. In the process, I have evolved into a much stronger person. I always thought that being a strong person meant to loose ones innocence. No, its not so, you can be strong as well as soft, confident as well as childish, organised and impulsive all at once. You can be sure of your capability to make right decisions, not just for yourself but for someone else too, that's what makes you strong.

Pinterest and Alike Pages: Cost Benefit Analysis

It was in year 2012, during my Post Graduation years, that I was first introduced by my friend (or foe?) to Pinterest, with a warning: "do not blame me if you spend more time on Pinterest and less time on assignments. Be prepared to spare at least 3 hours once you click on the website". I used to be proud on my time management skills, but Pinterest flushed it down the drains. Once I would get started, time would fly and I would spend 3-4 hours doing nothing but adding pins to my boards. At one point I had to block this site if I wished to submit my assignments on time.
It has been 4 years, and my love-hate relationship with Pinterest still continues. In between, many other pages like Popxo were added to the caravan. Now I ponder whether this all was beneficial for me? My friends are not that big fan of these sites. So, what has this added to me?

Cost: First main cost is time. The amount of time that I have spent on these, if it was to be calculated for over the years, would be ginormous. other costs can include postponement of various other priorities like assignments, surfing on other websites, net packs, what else to add...

Benefit: Well, according to me, among my friend circle I am known as Google, because I know solutions to every kind of problems. Be it bra size, to recipes, to home remedies, art and craft, school assignments, any xyz thing, I always have some input for it. And the main source is Pinterest. It has given me confidence to speak out my thoughts, that are actually listened to and valued. Even among my relatives, I am considered as a Smart, Independent Woman. So, I can say that all those hours of Pinterest surfing has payed off.

Verdict: I know many people think that they have better things to do in life than sit in front of laptop and do nothing but just surf. Most of my friends don't even surf internet as a hobby. (what is wrong with these people, I think they have severe dinosaur-syndrome: the problem of not being up-to-date) Anyways, the point is - to each her own. Even if it occupies a major portion of your precious leisure time, according to me, it pays off. It boosts your confidence, give you many creative ideas, enable you to interact with people around the globe and, in general, be up-to-date. It can also help you in public relations and in promoting your career. And to a person like me, whose tongue freezes and mind blocks every-time when meeting with new people, it has been godsend. Its up to you how you max out the benefits and minimise the costs. Happy Pinteresting!!

On What Women Want?

Today I was just doing what I usually do, most of which is wool gathering, when I had an epiphany- most of my idle thoughts focused on one thing and only one thing, which is- how must unsatisfied I am with myself. I always admire traits of other women, be it small things like clothes, accessories, hair, to big things like personality, career, family. In total, I feel that if compared, I will always fall short. I get tired of constantly trying to change myself, my hair, my smile, my skin, dresses, walk, everything, thinking about whether I measure up to the benchmarks. But why should I not be happy with what god has gifted me with? And who gets to decide about the benchmarks? Always trying to change oneself is not a healthy attitude and denotes lack of self confidence. And here I thought I was mature enough to be confident! So what does a woman wants out of her life? Why is she constantly trying to mold herself to standards decided by others?

Whereas, the truth is, you are a benchmark for some other woman too. Someone out there might feel that how lucky you are to have so many good things happening in your life. So, chin up gals, each one of us is unique, in our own ways. And all we have to do is identify what those things are, be proud of them and encash it to the fullest. Walk like you own the Terra, smile your Monalisa smile, flaunt your uniqueness, because you are beautiful, and no other person can take your place. You are unique, you are YOU!!

On BFF getting Married: the life after D day

Here’s the thing about your BFF getting married: you are on cloud nine during all the preparations. You are jubilant even on all the major functions, participating wholeheartedly, totally unaware how your life is going to do an about turn. No matter how smart or wise you think you are, no matter how often you remind yourself that after her marriage everything will change-she will no longer hang out with you whenever you feel like, she will not always be there for you. You even try to convince yourself that yeah, totally cool with it and are prepared for all the changes.

But, O' girl, how wrong you are, ‘coz when the time actually comes to witness these changes, you realize how wrong you were. You were never prepared to accept that now someone is more important in your bestie’s life than you. She now shares her most secret thoughts with her hubby and not have time to reply to your messages. Every time she cancels your date, a little part of your heart gets broken, a little more of your kaleidoscope of memories gets tarnished. Because you were never prepared to accept that a time will come when you will no longer be the priority in your BFFs life, she will divert all her time and love to someone else. You always thought that no matter what, old is gold, you knew her longer, and you know all her secrets thus ultimately entitling you exclusive rights in her priority list. But girl, wake up, because one day you will also get married and you will hurt your other friends the same way your BFF is doing. Wake up, until it’s too late and when the first blush of marriage will wear off, when you will realize that in order to build up an ideal married life, you have lost your own identity. The person who could have become your strength in rediscovering yourself, in being your confidence, your band-aid is now busy in her own life… and no matter how hard you try to bring back the old rapport with your BFF, it will never be same again .
